Spring Break Week in Instagram

Friday, March 29th, 2013

Its spring break this week which makes getting anything really done harder with 2 kids requiring full time attention. Luckily, the grandparents are here in town visiting  too, which takes some pressure off of me. But still, besides a killer Passover Seder on Monday night, not a lot is getting accomplished.

1) I cooked ahead a load of veggies for the week as I was prepping some Seder dishes and it felt good to be so domestic. 2) This faux taxidermy moose head was a leftover from the Urban Cowgirl bedroom project. Unfortunately, I dropped it and broke the resin into smitherins before I found a place to hang it. Sad, don’t tell K. 3) Lev and Ilana get lots of trips to the playground on Spring Break. The swings are Ilana’s new fave. 4) We have fun indoors too. 5) I still manage to carve out some time for this sick remodel I’m working on in Santa Monica. Look at the structure – the interiors are going to be amazing once I’m done. 6) I’m also mid restyling Ilana’s bedroom. Full post to come after I hang up new art and document.

Happy Pesach, Happy Easter!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

The main event is on Saturday so today isn’t too special.  A small gift exchange later today, a sushi dinner with the babes is on the books. Just wanted to wish you lots of hugs and kisses and hearts from me to you.

Who needs diamonds and gold? My favorite piece of jewelry right now is this plastic beaded necklace that Lev gifted me with.

Advent Calendars 2012

Sunday, December 9th, 2012

A pretty simple concept. You can’t go too wrong if you attempt a DIY version. So how do mine always take forever to complete and seem a little “off”. The collection of DIY calendars this year shows that you really don’t have to overthink, over sew, over glue, and over decorate your calendar for it to be stunning.

Non-Tree Christmas Tree

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

What does one do the day after Thanksgiving, start planning for the Christmas Hannukah season. I think a lot of people go out and buy their tree this weekend. We wait a few more weeks if at all. Its kind of a hassle and I just feel so guilty each year for having a  tree die to be propped up in our home. Its beautiful, but quite wasteful, no? This year we are not getting a tree. Its worth exploring some alternate ways of having a tree feel for the holidays, without actually have a live tree.

I saw this screen printed tree fabric at Ikea for only $6.99/yd. You can hang it and get that evergreen look. And use it year after year.  A cute DIY idea from Oh Happy Day to turn it an advent calendar.
