Moroccan Wedding Blanket

Friday, May 18th, 2012

I covet a Moroccan wedding blanket, or Handira,  for a touch of exotic glamour bedside. Sequins, beige and white stripes, textural wool – what could go wrong? Originally woven by the Berbers in anticipation of wedding  by the bride’s family. Wouldn’t it make an amazing wedding or anniversary gift today due to all the layers of meaning it holds?

My Marrekesh is a solid source for original Morrocan textiles.

Now you know you want one. There are a few mainstream options available.

Even West Elm got in on the game.

Masking Tape Gallery Walls

Friday, November 18th, 2011

I am loving this simple, cheap, uber cool way to display your favorite photos or prints with colored masking tape. Whether you go black, white, or neon pink – it makes an artful statement without a heavy commitment, buying frames, or putting holes in your wall.

Musical Chairs

I seem to have been a little bed obsessed this past weekend, probably because I didn’t sleep very well. Let me shift focus to dining. Q: What’s a great way to create a an intentionally eclectic look on a minimal budget for your dining room or eat in kitchen? A: scouring the thrift shops and flea markets for a collection of mismatched chairs that each personify a style movement and look like an ode to industrial design. Collecting the chairs will be fun, no matter what style of table you have it will all (mis)match, and you won’t stress about the cost of buying 4-6 new matching chairs. You can even throw a bench into the mix to really reduce the stress levels.
