Inspired by Emma’s beautiful version revealed this morning, I was wondering if there was still tile to put together a quick crafty version before December 1, which is 2 days away. No sewing. Not much painting. I’m new to Christmas and never had an advent calendar, but I can see what a delight it could be to open a new small package every day and learn about counting down in the process. It might be tough just to pin down all the components in time. I could just save this post for next year and try again. Here are some simple ideas that all seem to be composed of the same building blocks.

The Marion Housebook: my current inspiration. The full DIY tutorial is provided.

Nuvo Nova: numbered small sacks, kind of like Emma’s

Pinterest: twine, wood clothes pins, masking tape

Prudent Baby: an Ikea frame, decorative paper, and more small (numbered) envelopes hanging on twine.

A Few Things From My Life – monochromatic and pure
Shim and Sons Small gift boxes glued to a poster board
Whatever Dee Dee Wants: more little boxes

The Pretty Blog: small envelopes and more clothespins.

Atypical A: up cycled letterpress tray drawer
