Emerald and Indigo – New Trends for 2013

Thursday, January 10th, 2013

Look at me, its only 10 days into the new year and I’m already starting to make predictions about the upcoming trends. Besides Pantone’s Emerald color of the year actually striking a chord and coming up everywhere, I think that other lighter versions of emerald will be seen. Green is oh so pleasing to the eye and we will all welcome some fresh, invigorating green hues after the last few years we have been having.

I also predict that Shibori resist die, especially the indigo variety, will become the new Ikat for those itching for a global influence in their decor. Take a look around. You know once West Elm gets in on the game, its  a done deal.

Spring into Neon

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

I have a soft place in my heart for neon because it reminds me of electric 80s fashions and iconic TV such as Saved By The Bell. For the past 1 or 2 Springs, neon has been hot, and it seems like the trend continues for this Spring too.  The key to keeping it current is to not overdo it and to mix in the most subtle touches of neon with other Springy pastels and existing neutrals like greys, tans, and bieges.
